Christmas tree Decorating Tips
I like to add my lights as I am building the tree.(about 100 lights/30cm of tree height) Start at the bottom of the tree, one layer of branches at a time. Starting with the plug end first of your Christmas lights, run your strand of lights around the first layer of branches, starting closer to the trunk of the Christmas tree, then on the same layer of branches run another loop in the middle and then one more loop at the tips of the branches. Do this one layer of branches at a time until you reach the top of the tree. If you are using tinsel I would add the tinsel now. I then like to add my special Christmas tree ornaments and larger Christmas decorations using the diamond approach (place a decoration at four different points using the diamond shape as a guide) evenly around the tree. I feel this gives you a more even finish. I then like to add the smaller and medium decorations. Don’t forget to add some tree decorations closer to the trunk of the tree to give it a fuller look. I usually add the plainer cheaper decorations closer to the trunk. I very rarely use tinsel so I like to finish off the tree with bows. Last but not least don’t forget your tree topper! Star? Or Angel? Do you add a Christmas tree skirt to your tree?
